I Will Seek Thee Early~

I am so enjoying my visit in Washington. I couldn't help myself ~today we went on a search for some spring flowers to plant. We discovered that in Washington~ it is now time to plant Primrose, Pansies and Ranunculus. My daughter loves Ranunculus~ which is what she picked for her bridal bouquet.

It is so nice to see the green grass and get my hands in dirt. Back home we are covered in snow. I hope Spring is on its way to Missouri too.

We had a fun time. Boston was not so sure about getting dirty at first.
I am afraid he may want to dig in momma's flower bed from now on.

I am a bit jealous~ these flowers don't do well with the Missouri sun.
 They are just beautiful!

Lamentations 3:22-24

It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

I am excited Spring is just around the corner. Spring reminds me that the Lord's mercies are new every day. Spring is like a brand new page~ a brand new day~ a new beginning.

I have lived a blessed life. God has been so good to me  but I have made many mistakes. There are words I wish I could take back. There are things I wish I could do a bit differently. Things I majored on that I should have let go. There were times that I thought my way was the only way. Times when I thought I had all the answers.

As the wrinkles are appearing on my face ~ so is the fact that I really don't have any answers~ my way is not always best and I don't know it all. Funny how life ~ knocks that arrogant attitude right out of you.

Now-a-days as I apply my wrinkle cream ~ I do know that when I seek the Lord early each and every day I make less messes out of life. When I realize I don't know anything at all~ But God does. It humbles me to beg for His help each and every day because I must have it!

Every time I have made a mess out of life God is always there with His loving kindness just waiting to fix my mess. Is that not true? There is a song that says what if God said that He was tired of patching up our messes. But He never does~ He is always there!

Psalm 63

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

David wrote these verses and we all know he made some huge messes out of life. Yet~ God called him the Apple of His Eye.  It feels so good to have someone love you so much that when you blow it~ they forgive you.

That is what David is expressing in these verses. He longs to have a relationship with God because God loved him so much and helped him at the darkest moments in his life. David said God's attitude of loving kindness toward him was better than life.  God was there to help David patch it up.

Until I cross over to the other side I am going to mess things up~ I am going to make mistakes and I am going to need God's forgiveness. So until then I am going to keep seeking Him early each and every day and asking for His wonderful loving kindness.

My Washington Friends~ I Have A Question

Good Morning Bloggy Friends~

I am in Washington State visiting my grandbaby. I am having sooooo much fun. Oh my goodness gracious I love this boy and his smooches.

This morning we woke up at o'dark thirty and went to Lakewood Donuts~ they were heavenly. We went in our jammies and Boston thought that was great fun. I was however thankful they have a drive up window. The picture is dark but trust me that is a good thing.

My Missouri family is getting buried in snow once again.  Here is my view this morning out my daughter's back window. I am trying not to be too excited that I missed another Winter Storm back home.

Here is my question for my Washington friends.

It is so green here and this little weed popped up yesterday. Surly if the dandelions are coming up ~then pansies could be planted now. Is it too early here? What spring flowers do you plant  and when do you plant them? This Missouri girl is just guessing that the pansies could be planted with this mild weather.

I am thinking Boston and I may just have to play in the dirt today and plant Mommy some flowers.

Have a wonderful day. I am off to Grammy Heaven~ we have lots of fun planned.

More Snow~More Snow Pancakes

It's going to be an Upsee~Daisy kind of day!

Missouri gets snowed in! What is a girl to do?

Make more snow pancakes!

If you are snowed in this morning~you really must try these.

Granny Miller's
SNOW PANCAKES

2 cups of flour
1-tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 eggs well beaten
1-½ cups of milk

In a large bowel mix and sift the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together.
Combine the eggs and milk in another bowl.

Slowly add the milk  and egg mixture to the dry ingredients.

Stir well and set aside. The batter will be thick.

Next grease your griddle and get it good and hot.
When the griddle is hot, quickly go outdoors and scoop up fresh snow.

Fold in 1-½ cups of new snow and mix well.
Cook the pancakes as usual.

According to Granny Miller~

Tips For Snow Pancakes
Old snow won’t do.
Use only fresh, light and newly fallen immaculate snow. Small amounts of naturally occurring ammonia in fresh snow acts as a leaving agent and causes the pancakes to rise.
Ammonia in new snow will evaporate very soon after it has fallen.

It's Just A Spring Snow Storm~

At least that is what I am telling myself. Spring snow doesn't stay around long~ right!!?
The robins have returned and I am not sure where they are going to find shelter but they must have a plan. I am bracing for the Snow storm that is heading our way.

We are expecting 7-11 inches of snow with the worst possible scenario being 18 inches.
Pippa Lou~ our new little Corgi may be in big trouble with her little short legs.

Isn't she just the cutest~ this is how Pippa Lou sleeps.
She is settling into her new home and learning what it means to be a Shindorf.
She is getting spoiled rotten but doing well on her house training.

What does a girl do to prepare for a snow storm?  Get her hair done~of course!
So I am off and running and then I am going to fight the crowd at the Grocery Store.
Our local news already gave us a peek at the lines~ "....food is flying off the shelves."
I can hardly wait. Stay tuned ~ I will be back after I batten down the hatches.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me

and I shall be whiter than snow.

Psalm 51:7

Unglued ~ Devotional Review

Oh so many times I feel like I have come "unglued" ~ as Lysa calls it. I call it~ "loosing it." This is a great devotional. As women~ we juggle many different roles and feel stress from all the people in our lives pulling us in all different directions. Sometimes we feel like we are coming unglued.

This book contains 60 devotions to help us realize that as long as we are walking with God ~He can take our human thoughts and feelings and help keep it all together. Lisa gives us some practical helps along with Biblical advice that will help us grow into women who control their emotions instead of over-reacting to the stresses of everyday life. She shares Godly advice and scripture to help us resolve conflicts rather than drive wedges in out relationships.

As we mature ~ we realize the damage our mouths can do so we meekly learn how to stuff our emotions. This in time is like a time bomb that will eventually explode. Lisa helps women learn how to deal with the issues at hand to keep that from happening.

Each devotion starts with an opening scripture~ a thought for the day ~ a devotion and a prayer. Lisa Terkheurst is a New York Times best selling author and a national speaker. She is the president of Proverbs 31 ministries. Her devotions are read by over 600,000 women worldwide on a daily basis. She has been a blessing to many and you will be blessed by this devotional.

I have started my 60 day journey to imperfect progress. I love this devotional and rate it 5 stars. This is a devotional that every woman should read~ great book!

This book was provided to me by Thomas Nelson in exchange for my honest review.

Teach Me To Number My Days~

This morning my devotion was in Psalms 90~ kind- of a sobering way to start a Monday morning. It is a prayer from the great man Moses ~to His great God. He is recounting his life. He opens with the cold hard fact of just how fast a man's life will play out. NO matter how much wrinkle cream I use, or how many Emergenc-C packets I consume  or even how many days I exercise a week~ this body is wearing out day by day. Moses says a thousand years is but just yesterday in God's time. We just can't stop the hands of time.

For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.
In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

Yet~ we get so caught up with living and doing and stock piling like we will be here forever. Our grandparents did ~ every generation before us did it and we do too. We are not going to be on this earth long. So I ask this question ~ as in the Christian song that is playing over and over in my head just now~ "What is it I've done with my life? "

Then Moses addresses God's anger~ rather I should say righteous anger.
Wow~ this one reminds to keep a short confession list with my great God. For we all fall short ~ don't we? He sees even our secret sins~ I don't want to grieve my Heavenly Father.

For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

Then we see the great man ~ Moses making a plea to God. Now I get that! I make many of those myself. He makes a plea for God's understanding~ I desperately need that. How about you?

Moses tells us that our life is a tale that will be told. What will my story be when I am gone from this earth? What will others say about me? But more importantly what will God say about my time here on this earth? Was it consumed with me~ myself and I? Or did I care to spend my time on God and others?  Did I spend my time trying to reach others with the saving Gospel ~ did I love ~ or did I devour and stir up strife?

Moses asked God to teach him to number his days~ that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.
12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

I hate it when others point out my past failures and short comings. So I don't want to do that to others. I hope and pray that with my wrinkles~ along with those fine lines I have gained some wisdom along the way. I pray that I have become more like my Saviour. I know I have a long way to go~ but praise God I have come a long way!

I love happy endings~ I always have. Moses sums up his life in this little prayer. He continues along and appeals to God's love. Oh what amazing love! He asks God to have compassion on his servants.

In my words ~ as I prayed this prayer over to God this morning. It goes like this ~ " God, I know I have really messed up~ I am nothing without you~ but please God have compassion on my failures and forgive me. ~ Please~ help me to number my days and walk according to your will and way for my life~ not mine."

13 Return, O Lord, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.
16 Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.
17 And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

Then Moses prays for the future~ what a wise man. Perfect? No! But he grew in wisdom.
I love it~ " And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

Wow~ that's what we all need isn't it?  What if you could read your tale as we are able be to read Moses' life story? He started out as an angry murderer. I think the ending matters more than the beginning. Moses went from a murdered to a minister. Now that is something to celebrate today.

I pray that the beauty of God will be upon you today! Have a blessed day.

Blink~
Teach me to number my days
And count every moment before it slips away Taking all the colors before they fade to gray

I don't want to miss even just a second more of this

It happens in a blink
It happens in a flash
It happens in the time it takes to look back I try to hold on tight, but there's no stopping time

What is it I've done with my life It happens in a blink

When it's all said and done
No one remembers how far we have run
The only thing that matters is how we have loved I don't want to miss even just a second more of this

Slow down, slow down
Before today becomes our yesterday
Slow down, slow down
Before you turn around and it's too late

It happens in a blink
it happens in a flash
it happens in the time it takes to look back I try to hold on tight but there's no stopping time

What is it I've done with my life It happens in a blink

Farming on Faith's Fabric Softener~ Recipe

Happy Saturday~
It is going to be spring again at Farming on Faith. We kind-of wake up and decide if it is winter again or spring. I am thankful today it is spring.

I am stocking my cleaning cupboard with my ingredients from my pantry. I manage to make less "Wally World" trips and save lots of money. I have been using this recipe for about five years and I love it. This container cost me 70 cents to make~ it is a little more if you add oil to the recipe.
This is all you really need. But if you are like me and like scent ~ you can add a fragrance but adding a fragrance is optional.

Recipe~
1 cup of vinegar
2 cups of hair conditioner
6 cups of water
Fragrance is optional because the hair conditioner gives a light scent.
I add a "Downy" like fragrance to mine.

Here is my laundry soap recipe~ click here.

We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; 2 Thessalonians 1:3 KJV

Day 8
14 Days of Valentines

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Matthew 5:43-45 KJV

And They Call It Puppy Love~

Oh my goodness~ this little girl has captured our hearts already. I just love her short little legs~ they look like drumsticks.

So far~ house breaking has been a breeze. I have been told that Corgi dogs are very smart and easy to train. We have fallen head over heels in puppy love. Anyone else have a Corgi?

Our greatest challenge is that she does not like to be left alone~ at all. I imagine she will grow out of this a little. Her daddy is a people dog too~ such a big personality he had. I think we are going to be blessed with a great dog.

Hannah and I took her on her first shopping trip to Pet Smart to buy puppy toys. She enjoyed our first outing.  She captured all the attention of the entire store. We think she is a keeper for sure.

Day 7

14 Days of Valentines~I Like The Way You Roll

Day 6

Love is a commitment not a feeling. But it was not until I met Brian that I truly understood. My father had been addicted to the bottle~ he could not survive life on his own let alone be a father.  (Don't get me wrong~ I loved my dad deeply and grieved harder than I ever have not long ago when he went to Heaven. He did receive Christ as his Saviour so I know I will see him again. ) But that situation in my life created some real fear and trust issues deep inside of me.

It was a broken road that led me to invite Jesus into my life. So ~ no regrets! I would not change it all if I could. I am thankful that my broken road led me to God.

Outside of accepting Jesus to be Lord and ruler of my life~ the greatest gift in my life has been my husband. When he married me ~he got one confused young girl. I needed reassurance. I wanted promises written in blood. I had many reasons not to trust but he once told me, " I will not make you promises~ I will spend the rest of my life proving it to you." I can tell you all these years later he has done just that.

He knew that love was a commitment. He was committed to not only loving me but supporting me to become all that God had in store for me to be. That meant working through my trust issues. And boy howdy~ did that take some patience and commitment on his part. But out of commitment love will grow. In our case so did trust! I am so thankful for a man who loves God ~ it made all the difference in the world.

Our trust and faith must totally be placed in God. We can't be all that our spouse needs. Only Jesus can do that. But we can strive everyday to have a relationship with God and He will build our marriage.

This is an example that a wise Pastor gave us.

As we both commit and both draw closer to God we will become closer to each other. We  need God in the center of our marriage. He can make our marriage a little piece of Heaven on earth.

Matthew 22:37-40

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
