Farming On Faith Is Having An Open House~

Farming On Faith Is Moving To Town
Farming on Faith Blog was created as we began the journey of building our dream home in the country. And what a journey it has been! God taught two very self -sufficient people that no matter how educated, disciplined or budget minded you are He is still in control.

Every breath you take~ every step you take~  and every memory you make is all dependent upon our Heavenly Creator.

My boy was so little~ sniffle .

Don't tell Hannah I posted this picture ~ pretty sure she will tell me to remove it!

We learned some valuable lessons in this journey of faith God took us on. We learned that when God opens the door ~ you need to walk through it. We learned that when He closes a door it is best to never pass through it. It truly is a wise thing to ask God to open the doors you need to walk through and beg Him to slam those doors that need to be closed in our life.

We built this home as our final stop~ our retirement home but God has changed our direction. He has a job for us to do that requires that we move back to town.

Oh~ it truly is bittersweet. Building your own home is like giving birth~ this home~ this land is like our baby. We gave birth to it ~seriously.  In fact~ giving birth was much easier than building a home. We have given our blood, sweat and tears.

So as I leave it will be with some sweet memories and a few tears.

There is no greater place to be than in the center of God's will. Thank you for your sweet wishes and a few concerns. All is well and we are excited to see what God has in store.

Jeremiah 29:11-13

King James Version (KJV)
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

My Brian named my blog~ Farming On Faith. So I asked him what the blog should be named now. (I am not leaving blog land. My life has been blessed beyond measure with the friendships I have made. ) He says, " Maybe~ Cramped In The City." Ha~ NOT! Hannah says just call it ~Farming On Faith In The City. So I will have to give that some thought.

For now the house is listed ~ let the madness begin.

I plan to blog through the journey of selling a home~ sigh! Maybe it will make" keeping it picture perfect" a little more bearable.

I have so much I am hoping to pass along and  I am praying the new owner will want to adopt and care for my girls~ and the sister kitties too.

Our home is listed here~

I Am Just Having Myself A Pity Party~

Good Morning Blog Friends~

I am having one of those ~ "go to meeting with Jesus meetings" on my front porch  this morning. Hannah and her Dad have made the journey of 30 hours of driving  back to the Evergreen State and have arrived safely. Thank you ~ Lord!

This momma has had a couple of days of crying and stomping my feet. I just want to question God why it has to be so stinkin' far away!  We have battled for a couple of days now.

I am so thankful that Hannah was home for the Holidays and we just celebrated her birthday before she left. Six months went by way too fast. Please continue to pray for Jacob and his safe return.

Do you ever just get discouraged? I have been having myself a pity party the past couple of days. I hate pity parties~they are so pathetic. I have been whining to God that this too hard. I miss my girls and I miss Boston and now Miss Olivia Hannah too! (Please pray for her safe arrival~ coming soon!)

At times like this I need to encourage myself in the Scriptures~ even if I would rather stomp and throw myself a fit. Like that is going to get me anywhere but with a big fat headache.

Romans 15:4 - For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Galatians 6:9

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

After all~ I am proud to have two sons-in-love who serve their country and are brave and courageous men. Would I really want anything other than that for my girls? Of course not~ so today I am soaking up my tears and putting an end to this pity party!

Ok well~ It may take a few more verses. :)

Would you like a dose of encouragement too?

Joshua 1:9 - Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God [is] with thee whithersoever thou goest.

2 Timothy 1:7 - For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Psalms Chapter 12

Proverbs 30:5 - Every word of God [is] pure: he [is] a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Psalms 37:4 - Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Psalms 28:7 - The LORD [is] my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
Psalms 34:4 - I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Romans 15:13 - Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Psalms 126:5 - They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
Jeremiah 29:11-14 - For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Psalms 55:22 - Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved

I am feeling much better now ~ how about you?

The Promise Box~ An Amish Book You Don't Want To Miss~

In the middle of keeping our home show ready to sell and planting the garden I have been so busy. Yet ~ when this book came in the mail I could not wait to read it. Oh my stars ~I  so enjoyed this book. This is one you will want to add to your summer reading list.

I had read the first book and I was so excited to dive into this second book ~ Seven Brides For Seven Bachelors Series.

Lydia Wyse returns home to attend her mom's funeral and help her dad through the days that are ahead without Mem.  She leaves behind a career as a writer in Seattle but she plans on returning just as soon as her father was able to handle things on his own.

Lydia had been running ever since her mother had told her that she was adopted. She was sure she wasn't Amish at heart and was looking for what she was missing. Yet~ the funeral makes her return to the Amish community and the love of the parents that had adoringly waited and prayed for her to return. Her Mem had prayed so long for her to return yet she never could find the time to go back.

Lydia is full of guilt when she finds The Promise Box that her mother had used to store all of her treasures and keepsakes. In it was all the answers to all the questions Lydia was searching for. If only she could have read these things while her Mem was still alive!

I love how this story ends ~ what an amazing adoption story.

About The Promise Box:

With her heart - and her loyalty - on the line, can she let true love in her life?
Every year, young Amish men descend on the cozy little town of West Kootenai, Montana, arriving in the spring to live there for six months and receive 'resident' status for the hunting season in the fall. They arrive as bachelors, but go home with brides! Lydia Wyse, a book editor from Seattle who grew up Amish, returns to the small community of West Kootenai, Montana to give comfort to her father after her mother's death.
She is drawn back to the familiar Amish ways after finding her mother's most precious possession, a Promise Box of prayers and scripture. What her publisher sees, though, is an opportunity for a sensational 'tell-all' book about the Amish. Lydia soon finds herself falling in love with Amish bachelor Gideon Hooley. She wants nothing more than to forget her past and look forward to a future as an Amish bride.
Will the pain of her childhood-and her potential betrayal of her community-keep her from committing her whole heart?

Homemade Hummingbird Food~

I am so excited the Hummingbirds have finally arrived.

Hummingbird Food Recipe~

2 cups sugar
6 cups water
Red food color if you desire but not necessary. I kind of like the color.

Place sugar and water in a sauce pot and bring to a boil. Boil for 6 minutes. Watch and stir often so the syrup does not boil over. Remove from stove and let cool to room temperature. Add a few drops of food coloring if desired.

Fill the feeder and watch them come flocking to your yard. Today it took only a couple seconds.

Homemade Fabric Softener~

The great thing about keeping a stocked pantry is that you can whip up whatever you need when you need it. Today it is a cool day at Farming On Faith so I thought I would make a few of my cleaning products. I love the smell of Downy but you can add any natural scents you like. I just happen to be a girl addicted to scents that smell strong.

Fabric Softener Recipe

1 cup vinegar
2 cups hair conditioner
6 cups of water

Mix all this together. You may use this like any other Fabric Softener.

If you prefer dryer sheets you can try this~I diluted this down with water~ 3 parts water, 1 part softener. I then poured it into this glass container.  Next I added  sponges.  For each load~ wring out the sponge and add to the dryer as you would fabric sheets.  I added a few drops of  Downy scent!  Smells wonderful!

***I buy my scent at Natures Garden Candle Supplies. Due to copyright laws the scent is now called NG Clean Breeze.  Click Here!****

Dog Gone Those Hands Of Time!

There are just not enough hours in my day.
I have been way too busy!
Dog -gone- those hands of time!

We have started building our new auditorium in our little country church.
Saturday we worked on the trusses~ but we have so much more to do.

Our church was chosen by Jehovah Jireh to receive a grant .
We are so excited~ little is much when God is in it!

My baby and his prom date ~ Andrea and Caleb.
He grew into a man when I wasn't looking.
Dog -gone- those hands of time!

His homeschool friends. We are entering his last year!
I remember his first day of kindergarten.
Dog -gone- those hands of time!

I have been trying to keep up the garden.
I need lots more time here....sigh.
Dog -gone- those hands of time!

My Hannah is packing up and returning back to Washington this weekend.
This was her goodbye party at church with our Pastor and his wife.
Awe~ more tears!
I am going to miss her so much~ it went way too fast.
Dog -gone- those hands of time!

Boston is playing little batters baseball this spring.
Look how big he is getting!
Dog-gone those hands of time.

My baby is just about to deliver a new grandbaby!
 Just can't believe it!
I remember the day she was born ~ it was just yesterday.
Well it seems like it!
Dog-gone those hands of time!

Josilyn and Keaton are loving summer.
They are growing way too fast.
I remember when their momma was this little.
Dog-gone those hands of time.

Isaiah 30:15

For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

I have been so busy trying to keep our home picture ~ perfect for showings. Did I happen to mention that I hate selling our home? Today I was cleaning from top to bottom for a realtor walk through. It is so stressful and busy. I just want to get where I am going~ NOW.

We all live such busy lives in fast pace. There is always something demanding our attention. This modern day has us running in every direction. When we are home the grass needs mowed and the laundry needs washed and on and on that list goes. When it comes to church~ our help is always needed.  Our work demands more time~ always.

Dog-gone those hands of time. It seems like the day gets away from us before we even know it and we haven't set aside time from our eventful day to rest and be quiet before God as this Scripture tells us to do.

Then when a monkey wrench is thrown into our busy routine it gets even harder. It can be selling a home, the change of a job, the death in the family~ or anything unexpected that causes us to crowd out our much needed quiet time.

My firsts response is to just get things back to normal so I can just live again. I make plans to do so ~ and then ask God to bless my best intentions as I go. I am so very good at working out things on my own~ how about you?

I am sure God wants us to us obey this verse when life is hectic~ out of our control ~and certainly not going our way.

Psalm 46:10

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Our comfort and peace of mind won't come from solving all our issues but rather in having a relationship with the God of this universe. And knowing He has it all under control.

So today I have decided to let those hands of time keep moving but I am going to take some time to just be quiet with my Lord.
