She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand
to anoint my body to the burying.-Mark 14:8
Do you sometimes wonder what good you can really do? In the big scheme of things what does my little service to God amount to?
It seems our world is going to Hell in a hand basket and fast. I really want to make a difference. I want to shout it from my housetop that Jesus saves~not only does He save but He changes lives. He brings peace, love and joy and lasting satisfaction in this life here below.
There was a lady named Charlotte Elliot who was an invalid most of all her life. She was plagued with grief over her condition. In 1836, her brother, H.V.Elliott was raising money to build a college for the daughters of their poor preacher. Charlotte wanted to help but could not possibly see how she could do any good. She was burdened by the words from a sermon in the past year given by Pastor Caesar Malton~ "Just Come As You Are."
Charlotte being stricken to a wheelchair decided to write a poem to others who were physically ill. Unknown to her~ the poem was published without her name. Her Doctor handed her the poem in a leaflet to encourage her. She immediately recognized it as her own writing~it was being sold to raise money for her brother's college. Not only did it raise money for the school, but it is one of the most widely known hymns of invitation that has been used as a tool in bringing thousands to Christ.
Here is that Hymn~
Just as I am, without any plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me;
And that Thou bid'st me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God I come! I come!
Just as I am, poor wretched and blind,
Sight riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need in Thee I find,
O Lamb of God, I come! I come!
Nothing says is better than this old Hymn. Remember today~ Little Is Much When God Is In It. Sounds like another good old Hymn.
May we all make a difference for the Kingdom of God today.
