Pennsylvania Patchwork~ Win An Amish Made Quilt

I chose this book this summer to read while I was in the Seattle area~ just seemed fitting. Holly is the main character ~who is from Seattle ~discovers that her mother had been born and raised Amish. They return to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to meet family she never knew she had.
She suddenly questions all her goals and dreams in life when she is introduced to such a simple peaceful way of life~not to mention a handsome Mennonite vet~ who happens to sweep her off her feet. Then all the sudden a sweet Amish man shows up to compete for her attention. What could happen now? ~Well except on old "boy friend" shows up from Seattle declaring his love for her. How in the world could things get more complected?
All the while she learns all about her father who disappeared to never be seen again. And her mother has her own story of returning home. This book has many facets to keep you entertained for sure.

This book had many angles and at first was a little complicated. If you are a person who likes deep books~ this book is for you. I had a hard time keeping focused at first but once it captured my attention I could not put it down until I had finished it.

About the book~
Meeting the family that her mother had kept hidden from her, Holly comes face to face with her real life and blood legacy. She also falls for the charming Zach, a handsome Mennonite veterinarian who is everything she’s ever wanted in a husband: confident, kind, successful, and authentic. And Zach proposes marriage. Is this too soon? Is this the right choice? Mother and Amish grandmother think she’s rushing into too much of a lifestyle change. Holly is in love with Zach and that precludes everything. Until she meets an attractive Amish man. And an old suitor shows up.
Pennyslvania Patchwork is the moving, richly told story of one woman’s heart, her faith and trust, and the choices she makes. Never easy, but one choice can change your destiny.

Speak Words Of Life~

Proverbs 8:8-9

All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.

I have been working for a long time now on learning to keep my mouth shut. If you knew me you would know why it has taken me years and years to accomplish this. I have a bit of a hot head and I can blow steam if I am not careful. God has been working on my heart about learning when to speak and when not to. I think I have made progress~ well I hope I have.

Do you think words are important to God? I sure do. I so want all my words to be in righteousness~ never froward or perverse.

So lets do a word study~ what does froward mean?

badcontraryerrantnaughtymisbehavingmischievoudefiantdisrespectfulill-manneredill-naturedimpolite,improperimpudentindecorousinsolentrudeuncouth,unmannerlydisobedientheadstrongintractable,obstreperousrecalcitrantrefractorytransgressing,unrulyuntowardwillful (or wilful); balkyrestive,uncontrollableungovernablewaywardwildarchelfish,impishknavishmonkeyingmonkeyishornerypixieish,prankishrascallyroguishwaggishdissoluteperverse,wrongheadeddisorderlyrowdyruffianlycorruptevil,wickedinsurgentmutinousrebelliousdisobliging,inconsiderateselfishthoughtlessunkindunkindly;babyishchildishimmatureinfantilejejunejuvenile,kiddishpuerile
Oh my stars~ I am sure I need to keep working. How about you?

We are created in His image and daily we are to conforming to His likeness . Last week while spending time with my Washington kids I watched my grandson try to be just like his dad. Boston loves his daddy and wants to do things just like his him. That's how we are suppose to be to God. We are to have a desire to be just like Him~ if we have made Him Lord of our life.

That means every kind of perverseness of any kind should be out of our thinking and for sure our words.

Words have power~ they really do! They have power to affect how we think ~what we believe  and what we say. They affect every little aspect and impact our lives significantly.

We can do so much damage to others  and ourselves with our tongue. We can plant seeds of worry and doubt in others with our words. We can speak life or we can speak death. It is up to us.

Let's speak words of life today~

Proverbs 18:21

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

It's Time To Say Goodbye~

I am packing my bags and getting ready to head back to Missouri. It is going to be so very hard to leave this sweet baby behind knowing that next time she will be so much bigger.  I am trying to not be weepy. If only Washington were not so far from Missouri.

On a brighter note I am ready to get back to my family at home~ getting a bit homesick. We have had several offers on our home while I was gone~ but none we seemed to have peace about. Praying for the sweet family that God intends to have my little farm that started Farming On Faith to appear soon. I am trusting God to open and close the doors that need to be..........SOON!

In times like these I am reminded to trust in God that He knows best. We need to have faith to trust that God is capable of controlling our lives and He is. If we believe the Bible is God's heart to ours we know that God tell us things that will transform our lives. Truths that will bring peace when things are difficult or when the future may seem unclear. I just hate not knowing the plan so I need to trust a little more than most....sigh.

Romans 10:8

 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
Christianity is not a theory ~ it is based on truth and facts of God's Word. We can put our absolute faith in Him. We can rest in the Word of Faith for His promises, provision, protection, help, guidance ~ and oh so sweet peace.

2 Corinthians 1:20

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us

James 4:8 a
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Our salvation gives us power to walk through difficult days. We don't have to walk aimlessly. We only have to ask the Lord for the strength to take the next step. What a glorious way to live knowing that God walks with us~ no worries!

2 Corinthians 1:20

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Even as I leave behind my daughter with her new baby and grandson~ and I kiss my baby girl goodbye ~ I can know through the tears that God has a plan for their lives. I just have to trust Him enough to know that it is for the best.

I am so thankful for the rich promises ~ at times I want to shout it from the rooftop that my life has been touched by God through His Word so much that it has truly become my Word of Faith.

When I Pause To Remember~

When I pause to remember I remember love notes written on Sno-Balls and walks in the rain to remember. I remember carriage rides at Crown Center and hunting high up in the trees. I remember finding out that your favorite color was yellow~ which still makes me smile. I remember Christmas tree farms, Jingle and a bubble gum ring in my stocking. I remember Port Washington ~ what a time to remember. I  remember biking around Mackinaw Island, and fudge. ( Oh~ dreamy fudge) I remember that sweet little house on Folsom~ Love grew in small spaces. I remember little girls with long braids and tie dyed t-shirts. I remember our little papoose and a chubby faced baby boy.  I remember Chevy pieces all over my floor and you building me a new kitchen to die for. I remember a Queen Ann Mansion and the great score $$$. I remember driving lessons and midnight boys. I remember pool parties, graduations, and an Airman on the front porch. I remember Principal of the Year. I remember building our dream home in the country. (Don't get any ideas because I am not doing that no more.) I remember bon fires, smores and camping by the pond. I remember a few tears scattered here and there like crying all the way home from Oklahoma City and the silent attic floor. I remember the day we watched her walk out the door and thought we wouldn't survive~ to only do it two times more. I remember the heartache of saying goodbye to her sweet little face. I remember watching you transition from Daddy to Dad and my heart just melts to see you as Papa.

I remember just how sweet our love grew through it all~ I wouldn't have missed any of it for the world.

When I pause to remember all these memories~ I am excited that we will continue to make more.

Happy Anniversary~My Brian
I promise you forever!

She Is Here~

Miss Olivia Hannah is here!
Momma and baby could not be doing better.

On the left is momma ~ on the right is Olivia.
Bittersweet for sure. It is like holding Ashley all over again.

This was Momma and Grammy giving her a talking to.
We were telling her it was time.

Boston gave Grammy his cold so we couldn't go to the hospital with our germies.
We decided to have a picnic instead.
At least we had fun in our misery.
In fact Grammy got real sick~ but I am on the mend.

Boston made a sign for his baby sister.
He was so proud.
Grammy had to buy Olivia her first Baby Alive~
still my all time present when I was little.

The weather has been just beautiful as you can see when I flew in
I had a clear view of the mountain.

I am still enjoying time with all my kids. I will be back soon!

3 John 1:4

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

The Christian Mama's Guide To Baby's First Year~

Well you are probably wondering why a Grammy would want this book so let me explain. We just welcomed our newest member to the family~ Miss Olivia Hannah. In case you think I am slacking I am not~ my mother intuition is still very much reliable. However~ things change from year to year to years ago. (Ok~ I said I was a Grammy.) I wanted to be up to date with all the "new" stuff. Now ~mind you I still may let age old wisdom rule most of the time.

Such as my daughter was shocked to hear that when she was born the nursery gave nursing mothers little bottles of glucose water for in between feedings. I would take along those little bottles when we were at church or on an outing. Today of course sugar is very bad. Some changes are good ~ some not so good.

I still say that a seasoned mom always knows best. I raised my children with good advice from all the women who had walked this path before me. That is what Erin does with this newly written 2013 book. She gives some new advice with some good ol' Momma intuition.

Erin MacPherson's did a wonderful job of taking the new and tossing in some mother advice. She helps with how you feel after you give birth, problems and issues of everything from nursing to colic. But what I love the most is her spiritual encouragement to young moms. In the end it is her goal to raise kids who have Christ centered in their lives.

This would make a wonderful gift to new moms and dated Grandmothers~ :)
