The Loom~ By Shella Gillus~ Book Review

Lydia is a light skinned house slave in the pre-Civil War South. She listens to the wisdom of the hard working slaves and dreams of a better life. She wants her freedom.

She tries running away only to be found. She was beaten and returned to her master. Even reading this makes me so sad to be reminded of the horrible injustice our brothers and sisters in God suffered for the color of their skin. Just saddens me so!

Lydia discovers that with the right clothes and the right attitude she can pass off as a white girl~ which opens a whole new world for her.

Lydia must choose to leave behind a hard working field slave named John or marry a wealthy neighboring plantation owner. Will she risk it all and leave her true love behind?

Lydia discovers that the truth is not always black or white.
