I stand up on the rocking chair and take a peek when I see Momma bird has gone to the local Piggly Wiggly for her next meal. I don't want to miss the grand entrance. I will have to help Mrs. Momma Bird keep the babies safe from our adopted sister kitties.
I have my eyes glued and watching~ I have my ears turned in to the sweet little chirps of both Mr. and Mrs. Bird.
Did you know that someone is always watching you? Sometimes I leave my computer open when I am doing my chores. I may be listening to a devotion or keeping touch with facebook. It shows that I am there on-line but in reality I may be scrubbing the bathroom. (very much off-line)
But in walk and talk everyday ~ I am always on-line. Someone is watching me and you all the time. Even when we don't think so. There is never a time when our words and actions don't matter.
Do I always pass the test? I sure wish I could say it was so. Yesterday I had some serious grocery shopping to do. I took along my son so he could gather applications for a new job. He being a 16 year old man-child really did not want to do serious shopping. So after several stores I head to Aldi~ NOT his favorite place to go. We have a brand new beautiful store in our town and the whole town has decided it may be worth trying. The store was packed with money saving seekers. Let's just put it this way~ "he was sporting a whole lot of teenager~man-child attitude." This momma wanted to give her 6 foot man-child a spanking. I was not happy with his behaviour and let it be known. I mean it would seem rather non-effective to give him a spanking ~ as if he would feel a thing. God reminded me that someone was watching me~ ouch! My hot temper was not very Christ-like. I had to do some repenting before I pulled out of the parking lot!
Paul and Silas found themselves in prison~ arrested~ beaten and placed in jail. Not exactly the best of circumstances. The Bible tells us that they were placed in stocks which were for used for dangerous criminals. Why were they arrested? For preaching the Gospel. So what did they do? Grumble? Complain? Throw a hissy fit? Sport a "tude"?
Well lets see~
Acts 16:25
King James Version (KJV)
25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
Okay ~ don't miss the last part! The other prisoners heard them. Maybe we should underline this part in our Bibles. Ponder on it ...... and the prisoners heard them.
Who is listening to you today? Who is watching you? There are those we know like our family and friends but I am sure there are those we don't know that are watching too. Will they hear gracious words or mean and hateful words? Will others hear me build up with my words or pluck down with no thought at all?
You are writing a gospel, a chapter each day;
By things that you do; By things you say.
Others read that gospel, whether faithless or true!
Say! What is the Gospel According To You?
