Washing My Family's Feet~

Sunday was our 40th Anniversary of our church~ Bible Baptist Temple. I started our church when I was 5 as a bus kid~ right after our church started. After all those years we are busting at the seams ~ we recently bought a new~ big building. We are so excited!  We have been busy as bees remodeling~ it is going to be beautiful!

This will be our auditorium~ in the first stages of the re-model.

This is my boy at the foot of the cross and my nephew and his other cousin. ~
  The boys seemed to be having a good time at work.
I pray my boy stays forever at the foot of the cross.

In our celebration services we were blessed with Mrs. Abigail Miller singing for us. She writes all her songs and is a mother of nine children. She was a blessing for sure. She wrote and had her children sing a song called~ Washing My Family's Feet. It talks about the unending list of duties and chores that never seem to be done in raising a family. And how each and every task that we do is serving each other in love and pleasing God in doing so.  Abigail had a Biblical application to serving our family as Jesus did in washing the disciples feet.

As recorded in the 13th chapter of John~ God incarnate washed human feet. God ~ Almighty God humbled himself to do the lowliest task! Our God does not ask people to strap bombs to themselves and destroy others. NO~ He was a servant that washed dirty~filthy feet that had walked streets of dirt and grime.

As wives and moms we sometimes get so tired of the daily dishes, dirty clothes, dusty floors and soiled toilets. But if we considered all those so~ daily~mundane chores as washing the feet of our family and  serving our God ~ it would put it all in a new perspective. I pray I have taught all my children to serve others enough to wash their feet. I wash my family's feet but not always with joy!

Even more humbling this wonderful Saviour of ours became a servant of all when He laid down His life for a sinful~ ungrateful world so that we may heirs to all that is His. Wow~ what an incredible~ fabulous and amazing thought. His fathomable~ sacrificial love for us should cause us to surrender to Him too.

How about you? Are you willing to wash the feet of your family today?
I want to surrender my whole life to this foot-washing God ~ and I want the wash my family's feet with joy!

John 13:1-5 KJV

 1Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
 2And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;
 3Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
 4He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
 5After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
