Looking Forward~

Deuteronomy 6:23

 (KJV)

And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Maybe you are still celebrating~ good for you. I  so enjoyed having my grandbabies here. Santa was very good to me. I had a great time having all the kids home around the dinner table. I have lots of pictures but my Photo Gypsy Girl has been to busy with wedding plans to download them for her Momma.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I think I have eaten enough sweets to last a very long time.

I naturally start thinking about the new year when Christmas day is over~ so I have already looked over the plans for the coming year.  Whew~ 2011 has been really a hard year for me.  I am really going to be happy to see it go. This time of year is a good time to set the reset button~ time to set some new goals~ start over.

I am asking myself questions about the knitty-gritty issues of Christianity in my own life. I am going to be asking myself some tough questions. You want to come along on my journey with me? Lets take a few weeks and look at our spiritual walk. Why do we do the things we do? One thing I know for sure is that being a Christian is all about having a real relationship with Jesus Christ. That should be our main driving force in all that we do. When we make anything more important than our personal walk with the Lord~ everything in life gets cloudy.

My ~ oh My~ I have to keep going around this mountain. And I am just sick and tired of this mountain.

In Deuteronomy 6 ~ Moses tells the people that have been walking in the wilderness for 40 years that God did not bring them out of bondage to wonder around aimlessly. He reminded them that God brought them out of Egypt to bring them into the Promised Land.  He saved them from bondage. He had a plan and a purpose for their lives. He did not want them to wander around in the dessert for forty years. He brought them out so that they could enter the land flowing with milk and honey~ a special place prepared just for them. I don't know about you but this has been a wilderness year for me. I am trusting that God has brought me through to bring me into a special place prepared just for me. This weary ~ thirsty soul of mine could use some sweet milk and honey.

God uses this picture as a picture of salvation. Egypt ~ a picture of the world is where we were before we accepted Christ to save us. Canaan represents the victorious life. Oh ~ my there are still giants to conquer.

Do we have enough faith to trust Him with the day to day events in our lives?  When we don"t we end up unhappy Christians. Faith and trusting will bring us into the special place God has planned for us. Sometimes I am there~ sometimes not so much. It is my 2012 goal to trust more.

So I am looking forward and focusing on my relationship with Jesus. I don't want to go through the motions in my Christian walk. I don't want to wonder in the wilderness when I am able to cross over into the Promised Land.

Faith is the key. Start by trusting God with all the so daily issues that pop up in our lives. Trust when titanic storms hit ~like sickness and death. Read His Word daily and trust Him to do what is best in my life. These are the start of my New Year"s Goals. I want to make 2012 the year I cross over into the Promised Land. Want to come with me?
