Is It Just My Imagination?

Good Morning Blog Friends~
I am doing my devotions this morning by the window with the cool Autumn air blowing on me and Starbuck's Vanilla Bean Coffee. Life is perfect at this moment.

Somehow I got connected with Tim Burton's devotion. So far I have so enjoyed them immensely. This morning the devotion was titled ~ Make Your Imagination Work For You.

Does your mind wonder? Am I the only one who feels like my mind is reeling all the time at the speed of thunder?  In the devotion this morning it stated we imagine things all day long. The things we hear add to those thoughts. All of these things paint pictures in our mind. Not such pretty pictures!

The problem comes in when we allow our imaginations or thoughts to continually dwell on the negative things. We spend far to much time imagining the things we fear or all the things that could happen. I am so good at this. I allow fear to take root in my mind and then I imagine all the end of the world case scenarios that could maybe happen. I mean after all~ they have happened before.

Then add the news and media to a mind like mine and you have some "stinkin thinkin" going on. When we allow ourselves to continually see the bad in the whole wide world or we are always on the defense ~ thinking that all people are evil~ we are way out of balance.

When we think on negative and fearful things and dwell on them on a daily basis ~ we eventually start speaking about them. People we tell repeat that gloom and doom and before you know it we are a real bummer to be around and so are the people we spread our not- so- peachy attitude to.

I heard someone say recently~ "I DON'T BELIEVE IN POSITIVE THINKING."

To that I say~ "How is that working for you?" It is a proven fact that being negative is bad on our health. It makes others want to avoid us if we are "Debbie Downer" and it makes us look old~ feel tired and talk ugly. It truly makes us sick~ literally.

I believe positive thinking is not just a great idea but I can show you here that it is Biblical.

We can choose to bring death or life with the words of our mouths.

Proverbs 18:21

King James Version (KJV)
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

If our minds are tuned in with the thoughts of God~ then we will have no to room for fear~ doubt~ worry ~ anxiety and bitterness.

Isaiah 26:3

King James Version (KJV)
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

There really is power in our thoughts and words.

So what can we do when negative thinking and imaginations come tempting us to spend our day defeated, discouraged and depressed?

We need to smack those thoughts right down like a pesky fly.

2 Corinthians 10:5

King James Version (KJV)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

So here is my challenge to you and me today~

Every time you have a negative thought about your situation, yourself or another person~ smack it down and replace it with a Godly thought. Such as being thankful for all things~ look for the good in your situation~ yourself and others.

If there is a real circumstance in your life you are facing right now that has you awake at night~ lay it at the feet of Jesus and move on today.

God's promises are true~ He loves you ~ He promises provision and protection~ healing and wisdom. Why?

Deuteronomy 28:2

King James Version (KJV)
And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.

Here is a verse to dwell on this very day~

Philippians 4:8

King James Version (KJV)
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Now that is reason enough to believe in the power of positive~ Godly~ thinking today.
