Our last night in Colorado ~ we made friends with this giant moose. His rack was huge. I think he is kind of cute. My Brian so enjoyed stumbling across this animal ~thanks Bob for a ride of a lifetime!
As we traveled across the Wyoming badlands~it was hours of antelope~such beautiful creatures. It was sort of a lonely place ~poor antelope! I would be so lonely there.
When we hit the Black Hills of South Dakota~ I was glad to see some green.
I have to tell you Mount Rushmore was a trip worth taking. Each night you can attend the Lighting Ceremony at 9:00 PM~ it was fantastic. You know sometimes you visit places and they just are never as good as you imagined. It was just not the case with Mount Rushmore. My Brian and Caleb hiked up the mountain as high as you could go! It was a rough climb~they say.
The Museum was a history lesson for us all!
We spent a morning driving through a state park and these burros came right up for a visit~they were quite friendly! They put their whole head in our window and tried to get a kiss~ well maybe they just wanted a little Chex Mix. We had great fun until they started scratching their heads on the side mirrors to which My Brian was ready to move on~in hopes to save our mirrors.
Such a cute baby!
We managed to witness a shoot out in Deadwood~ LOL
All along Interstate 29 the flood is really devastating~ my heart and prayers are with all who have been touched by the 2011 Flood. The smell is horrendous and it appears to be so wide spread. My heart just broke seeing houses, barns and land covered in water. I think this is going to go well into next Spring~it really is massive. We have been blessed so far in our town because our levies have held. But north and south of us ~many are covered in water all along the Missouri River. What a nightmare. Please remember to pray for all the flood victims and the people of Joplin, Missouri. The tornado clean up is still underway and they say the damage is worse than that which Hurricane Katrina left behind.
Today Farming on Faith is going have a temperature of 106 heat index~ so I am going back outside to finish watering so my garden and flowers don't die of heat exhaustion. With those beautiful green rolling hills, flowing crops and green ~green grass comes hot Missouri heat. You just have to take the good with the bad. I so enjoyed our trip across six states. I think America has so much beauty. We are blessed!
Wondering if my Colorado family could blow just a little of that mountain snow our way?
You have a wonderful day!
