What makes you happy? This little grandson of mine makes me so happy. It makes me happy to see him in pictures that his momma puts up on her blog so I can see him all the way across the states. You can visit my daughter's blog~ Coffee and Apple Juice here! This is Boston sporting his 4th of July dudes~ Grammy thinks he is just too cute!
And this is what makes Boston happy~ chocolate Nutella toast ~his momma put sprinkles on it for his 4th of July breakfast! Grammy and Boston both love Nutella~ it makes us happy!
Hundreds of things make me happy. Being Boston's Grammy makes me happy! Being a wife and mother makes me happified! Well let me see~ I love an iced cold Diet Coke. I love coffee in the morning while I read my Bible on my deck. I love me some good Mexican food, spending the day with the Amish, taking a bubble bath, my toenails painted in a bright color. I love spending time with my family ~all of them. I love romantic getaways with my Brian. I really love life~ it is a wonderful life!
Yet along with happy times we have a few days that are sprinkled with rain. Sometimes we must endure deep aches and gnawing feelings of emptiness. I don't like these times at all~ I want to have a celebration each and every day! You know what though? ~ We need these times of not being happy! It takes a little rain to make things and people grow. These times of growing close to my Lord remind that the only joy that gives meaning to all these happy things in my life is my relationship with my Saviour. When I give Him first place~ and allow Him to be Lord over my life~ He makes everything in my life happier. It is just the way it is!
Paul's letter to the Philippians shows that he had discovered that joy comes from knowing and serving the Lord Jesus Christ. He had learned to focus on what was truly important.
The apostle's words make me wonder. Could I honestly express a disregard for circumstances?
Philippians 4:11
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
Hoe often do I rejoice in the Lord ~ no matter if I am happy or not?
4Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice
Do I really believe that to depart and be with Him would be better than living here with all that makes me happy?
22But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
23For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

I think I understand what Paul is saying here~ I have had some really amazing times in this journey of mine. And I have had my days of heartache too. With that in mind I think there is something within me that says there's more. I could be doing so much more of this kind of rejoicing. How about you?
